Tamar Shovali, Ph.D.


Tamar Shovali, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Human Development at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. Dr. Shovali earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Lifespan Developmental Psychology from the University of Georgia. She also completed a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia. Previously Dr. Shovali earned bachelor degrees in Gerontology and Psychology from the University of South Florida, Tampa. She also has worked in the field of aging with the non-profit Office of the Public Guardian in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties in Florida. Dr. Shovali currently teaches courses at Eckerd College on the topics of Gerontology, Lifespan Human Development, Cultural Diversity, Developmental Theory, and Research Methods. Her research interests include adjustment to life course transitions, caregiver mental health in late life, end-of-life care and decision-making, and diversity issues in aging.
