Mary Bray, M.A.
BiographyMary Bray, MA has worked with people with chronic pain, obesity, alcoholism, and other addictions. She has written several books on weight loss and freeing yourself from guilt.
Mary received her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Houston. While attending the University she worked at the Houston Headache Clinic for six years as the Director of Biofeedback for the treatment of migraine headaches and for Dr. Ronald Auvenshine DDS as the Director of Biofeedback and Stress Management. She treated patients with Temporal Mandibular Joint dysfunction with EMG, GSR, and thermal Autogenic Training for clenching of the jaw and teeth grinding. She joined the Texas Pain and Stress Center learning how to manage chronic pain with biofeedback and stress management and started working with Dr. Edward Charleswoth for the treatment of obesity.
In 1987 Mary moved to Switzerland and became a Swiss citizen. There she decided to pursue work with obesity and overweight clients with Dr. Leutenegger in Zurich. With her direction she had a client lose 110 pounds in eleven months who then placed an article about the success in “Brigita” magazine.
Mary began a program, called Mary Well, organizing groups of people all over Switzerland. The program reflected back on all she had learned in Houston about biofeedback and the mind and the body working together to enable success. She traveled all over Switzerland, Austria, and Germany seeing groups for nineteen years.
She wrote her first book, “Fur Immer Schlank,” (Forever Slim) that became a best seller in 1992. From 1992 to 2011 she worked with thousands of Swiss clients and wrote another three books along the way. The books talked about the guilty conscience of gaining weight back. All of her books have been translated and published in Germany in the German language.
Mary worked with Deeprok Chopra from 2000 to 2005 learning all of the concepts of meditation and weight management from Dr. Chopra’s concepts of wellness. At the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, California she managed her own program along with Dr. Chopra’s for three summers. There at the Chopra Center she became certified in “Creating Health” as well as meditation.
Mary moved back to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2012 to be near her sons and their families. She wrote a combination of all her books called, “The Original Swiss Chocolate Diet.”
